Our weekend

We took a Vacation this weekend. Curtis and his uncle Troy signed up for a 5k in Saint George a few weeks ago. We made all the arrangements; getting off work, reserving a hotel...The race was canceled. We wanted a vacation anyway so we took off for sunny St. George.
We arrived to our little shanty at the same time a group of high strung high school baseball players arrived. Troy and Lisa were SMART and used a name-your-own-price online reservation at the Hilton garden inn.
We arrived a little early so we took Max to the temple to run around. It was so nice to escape the cold. After a good amount of energy had been spent, we went to pick up Troy and Lisa for dinner.

THE GUN BARREL was the restaurant of choice. Curtis takes me here once a year. Both Troy and Lisa said it was the best stake they had ever had. We even ordered dessert to go. I ate mine in bed while enjoying the bass sound from the ever so popular baseball team next door. (I only know they were popular because every time someone would knock on their door, I thought they were knocking on my door). They did go to bed early, 11:00.

The next morning we met up with Troy and Lisa for some breakfast (thanks Lisa), shopping and a little museum venture (pictures to come).

After all our fun, it was time to head for home. We drove to Cedar City and stopped to see some of the cutest niece and Nephews ever. After some catching up with Tyler and Lindsey, we hit the road again. All of our sunshine was now pushed out by nasty snow clouds. It had started snowing when we arrived to Cedar and we had hoped the storm would have moved on. No such luck.

It took us twice as long as usual to make it to Beaver. We ended up in bumper to bumper while an accident was cleaned up. Once we made it passed the wreckage, we were only moving between 20-40mph. It took us 4 hours to make it to Meadow (usually 1.5 hour drive). At this time the sun went down. With the snow blowing into our head lights visibility was low.

Our oh-so-wise Curtis decided it would be best for our family to get off the road until morning. THANK HEAVEN for this BEST WESTERN.
We called Jim and he found a vacancy for us. The rooms were going fast. They only had a few double queen rooms left. After we settled in, Curtis went into town to find us some dinner. When he came back, the hotel had a line of cars trying to get rooms. I wondered where everyone would stay. I have heard of this happening before and I had noticed a few (less respectable) motels as we had driven through town.

Here is my plug for Best western: Thank you Best Western for having hotels in towns that no one visits or wants to stay in. You sure saved us this time.

The next morning the roads were great and we actually got home in good timing considering the continued bad weather. It is so nice to be home. On that note... I'm going to go climb into MY nice, clean, soft and cozy bed.
Goodnight. I hope you are all home safe too.
